M. Scott Carhart
Associate Veterinarian
Dr. M. Scott Carhart is an Associate Veterinarian at Scripps Ranch Veterinary Hospital with more than 30 years of experience caring for companion animals. He earned bachelor's degrees in Chemistry and Biology from the University of California, Irvine before receiving his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of California, Davis in 1992.
After graduating from veterinary school, Dr. Carhart practiced at Mueller Animal Hospital and Center Veterinary Clinic before joining Scripps Parkway Veterinary Hospital, where he cared for pets and their families for 25 years. He is also USDA-accredited to issue international travel health certificates for companion animals, helping clients prepare their pets for travel abroad.
Dr. Carhart is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), California Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA), and the San Diego County Veterinary Medical Association (SDCVMA). While at UC Davis, he co-authored a research paper on the neurobiology of Xenopus laevis frogs and received a student research award for his work.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Carhart enjoys photography, hiking, cooking, and traveling. His love of animals extends well beyond the clinic—his home is shared with an incredible menagerie that includes cats, dogs, a parrotlet, a hedgehog, goats, a miniature horse, tortoises, a goose, a duck, chickens, a miniature African water frog, and even a 22-year-old goldfish. His lifelong passion for animals is reflected in both his personal and professional life.
